TORTURED WORDS

Copyrighted Rahman,brigitte Arlette

Publsihed in print and audio by the Library of Congress USA

When you ask of me why I say the things I say
you should know that on my way, often, I find a relic of a simple wish
a word made of prohibited letters.
Have you met such a tortured wish on your path?
A bleeding message, with hands maimed by a letter bomb?
a smile bloody with teeth torn out one by one f rom its courage?

when I meet my shadow on my way,I do what I can.
I say the words that are still awake from the long sleepless nights
from a cruel light flooding them in,
to dreprive them from the strength of one dream

When I meet my death upon my way
I call upon a friend that died in that very cell before me
a patience without end,and in the pain
I find myself over and over again
there is no hold in this cell of strength
at the end of my soul.

When I find my true torture
and see the corpses thrown uphasard
in a secret hole of the land
I see Life feeding from many flesh
then I say the things I say
because I was born from all of them

look at my face and you will recognize
all of them, the young and the old,
but yes to make you feel good
to see a smile on your face,
I will tell you the same lie all over again
the propaganda of passion, that makes them cry
when freedom is dry with drought..

I will tell one more lie to make you smile
